Why do some women have advanced stage breast cancer at diagnosis?

The rate of advanced breast cancer is 50% higher in Hawai’i than the rest of the US (15% versus 10%, respectively). The rates are even higher in the rest of the Pacific. For example, over 50% of breast cancers in Guam are diagnosed at Stage III or IV. Situated in the Pacific between the East and West makes Hawai’i a perfect host for the ABCD.
